japan's cities and towns celebrate different events and seasons with festivals or in japanese, matsuri. these celebrations can range from 40 people to 4000 people. usually food, drink, games and other events are all a part of these fun festivals.

come and try to pull the prize iwana from naruse river. this annual event comes in the middle of every june. with the clear stream, the beautiful mountains and the abundance of fish, any fisherman will enjoy the fun!

this event is unique to higashi naruse. come and join the fun "mountain training."

akataki matsuri
this summer event, held on the first sunday of august, is filled with fun. it starts with the walking challenge, which leads to the matsuri site. at the matsuri location there are several events planned, including live entertainment, music, and fishing for iwana to name a few. there is ample amounts of delicious food, ranging from barbecued chicken and beef to mochi and shaved ice.

a great way to start the day of festivities is with the walking challenge. this 10km walk winds through the beautiful village and ends at the akataki matsuri.
